Beer of the Month – August 2016

So, August has finally come to an end and we’ve had a blast. Its been the Edinburgh Festival, so our home city has been a buzz all the way through this month. There has been many a mid week pint, and the weekends have been spent trying to source a festival bar that sells something related to a craft beer!

This was also our Scotland month, both for FERMENT and in our boxes. The FERMENT gang travelled all across the country, going to some of the countries most remote breweries and distilleries in Shetland and the Outer Hebrides. They took a whiskey tour down through Speyside and got to have a chat with the head of Brewdog, James Watt about his plans for the future and his thoughts on the craft beer industry in the UK. You can still grab the mag from our bottleshop here.

In our boxes we had a wide range of awesome beers. All the Hammers from Brewdog, which our members loved! A pair of beautys from BlackIsle in Inverness and the outstanding Jarl from Fyne Ales in Argyll.

From Shetland we had Lerwick IPA and a little closer to home from Edinburgh we had Paolozzi from Edinburgh Beer Factory and Embra and Radical Road from our mates at Stewart Brewing.

We were the first to stock Brewgooder Clean Water Lager and by you drinking it you’ve helped give people in third world countries access to clean drinking water! The wild card was a tasty red ale from Rothammer in Chile. A wonderful selection, showcasing the best Scotland has to offer.

So its time to name our beer of the month for August. We asked you on Twitter and you have spoken. The winner is…

It was your favourite and is the perfect bitter end to the month! Colossal grapefruit aroma then pummeling bitterness and more bitterness. Its caramel is razor sharp and bites through your taste buds. Pucker up and enjoy this bad boy!

Thanks for reading!
